The crystal litter system earns particular appreciation, with owners reporting crystal litter really dries out the urine to reduce smell and creates a no pee smell environment that many describe as life changing .

However, the system faces significant pushback on ongoing costs and cat acceptance issues. The price of refill trays creates sticker shock, with some users reporting probably spent a few $k on the trays over time. Cat adaptation proves problematic for some households, as one of my cats refused to use it , particularly those TERRIFIED by the automatic mechanism. Technical issues also surface, including units that start making really loud clicking noises and problems with push a bunch of clean litter into the waste bin .

The ScoopFree appears best suited for single or multi-cat households where owners prioritize convenience over cost concerns. Its compact, stylish, and surprisingly low to the ground design makes it easier for kittens and older cats , while still accommodating larger pets as one user confirmed their 21 lb boy had no issues using it . Long-term users report success spans, with some maintaining been going strong for 4 years now or even used this litter box well over 10 years .

Price-conscious users consistently position it as a budget-friendly compared to others and much cheaper than LitterRobot , with some noting they pay $300 less than premium alternatives. While the trays are expensive for ongoing maintenance, many users find the upfront savings worthwhile, describing it as offering half the price for the litter Robot while being 1000% better than a traditional scoop .

A unique aspect users repeatedly emphasize is the system's health monitoring capabilities, with the newer models able to tracks your cat's weight and litter box habits . The crystal litter system creates less mess than expected, as users report Tracking has gone way down , though some still experience SO MUCH SCATTERED LITTER . Many owners appreciate being able to Replace every 2-3 weeks rather than daily scooping, with the overall sentiment being that less scooping is already a win .
